Visual examples, UI references, or product screenshots that show style, layout, or behavior.
Add References to a Project
References are materials that help Castaly understand what you want to build. They can be screenshots, documents, examples, notes, or saved Assets.
Add references before creating a Project so Castaly can read them together with your instructions and form the first Spec and Graph.
What counts as a reference
Section titled “What counts as a reference”Briefs, notes, requirements, product docs, or other files that describe what you want.
Existing products, pages, or materials you want Castaly to learn from.
Images and files you have already saved in your Assets library.
Add references from Home
Section titled “Add references from Home”Start from the Home composer. Add your written instruction first, then attach any references that help explain the Project.
Open the + menu
Use the
+menu at the bottom left of the Home composer.Upload files
Choose Upload files to add screenshots, images, or documents from your device.
Or add saved Assets
Choose Assets to pick images or files you have used before.
Send when ready
Press Send to create the Project with your text and references together.
You can also drag files onto the composer or paste a screenshot directly. These become temporary attachments before you send.
Use saved Assets
Section titled “Use saved Assets”The Assets library is a lightweight place to reuse material you have already given Castaly.
Use saved Assets when:
- the same screenshot or document applies to more than one Project
- you uploaded material earlier and want to reference it again
- you want to avoid uploading the same file repeatedly
Open it from:
Home composer → + menu → AssetsTemporary attachments vs saved Assets
Section titled “Temporary attachments vs saved Assets”Not every reference starts as an Asset.
Files you drag, paste, or add with Upload files live only in the composer until you send.
Files chosen from the Assets library are already saved, so sending references them.
What happens after you send
Section titled “What happens after you send”Castaly creates the Project
Your message and references become the starting context for the new Project.
Temporary attachments are saved
Files uploaded through the composer are saved to your Assets and linked to the Project.
Saved Assets are linked
Files picked from the Assets library stay saved and are referenced by the new Project.
Castaly builds the first understanding
Castaly reads your text and references together to draft the first Spec and Graph.
Supported reference types
Section titled “Supported reference types”PNG, JPG / JPEG, and WEBP.
PDF, Markdown (.md), TXT, and HTML.
For the full input list and starting modes, see Supported Inputs.
When to use Manage Assets
Section titled “When to use Manage Assets”Use this page when you want to add references to a new Project.
Use Manage Assets when you want to manage the library itself:
Save material before adding it to a Project.
Manage existing images and files in your Assets library.
Next: Manage Assets covers the Assets library — uploading, downloading, and removing material.
