Glossary

The terms Castaly uses across Projects, Chat, Build, billing, and support. For the full workflow, start with What Is Castaly.

Home : The starting point for creating Projects and returning to recent work.

Project : A product direction you move forward. Its Chat, Spec, Graph, Builds, Previews, and Project Versions all live together.

Project Workspace : The main workspace for a Project, including Chat, Graph, Spec, Preview, Build activity, settings, and status.

Account Settings : The account-level dialog for profile, appearance, plans, credits, notifications, contact, and policies.

Reference : Material you add to help Castaly understand intent, such as screenshots, documents, links, or notes.

Asset : A reusable file or generated item stored inside a Project.

Chat : The place where you describe intent, answer questions, request changes, and steer the Project.

Spec : The Markdown source of truth Castaly builds from. You change it by asking Castaly in Chat.

Graph : A visual reading of the Spec, organized into Pages, Feature Groups, and Features.

Page : A top-level screen or route in your product, shown as a node on the Graph.

Feature Group : A cluster of related features under a Page on the Graph.

Feature : A single capability or behavior, the smallest unit shown on the Graph.

Spec conflict : A conflict in the Spec that Castaly needs you to clarify before it can safely build.

Recent changes : The changes Castaly detected after the Spec or Graph updates.

Build : The deliberate step where Castaly turns the current Spec into working code, tests, and a Preview.

Build Plan : The ordered implementation plan Castaly shows before Build execution.

Accept Plan : The approval action that starts Build execution from the proposed Build Plan.

Continue Build : The action that lets Castaly continue from a pending or recoverable implementation fix.

Retry : The action used to run a failed step again when the workspace offers it.

Preview : The running version you test before publishing.

Publish : The action that turns a ready Preview into a stable public Project Version.

Project Version : A published version made from a frozen Spec snapshot and code snapshot.

Automated tests : Checks Castaly runs during Build and Preview preparation to catch implementation issues before you test the result.

Runtime Secret : An API key, token, or runtime value a Project needs to call an external service.

Project URL : A Castaly-managed URL for accessing a Project Preview or published site.

Preview URL : The temporary URL for testing the latest Preview.

Published URL : The stable URL for a published Project site.

Credits : Usage units spent on AI work, Builds, and advanced capabilities.

Monthly credits : Credits included with a plan that reset each billing cycle and do not roll over.

Extra credits : Credits purchased separately that do not expire and are used after monthly credits run out.

Credit pack : A one-time purchase of extra credits.

Credit Activity : The ledger of credit grants, purchases, usage, refunds, and adjustments.

Plans & Credits : The live account view for your current plan, credit balance, and purchase actions.

Plans & Usage : The reference page that explains plan rules and credit behavior.

Notification : A message about account, billing, platform, or important Project activity.

Activity : The Notifications tab for account-specific updates.

Announcement : A platform-wide update from Castaly.

Unread : A notification that has not been marked as read.

Preparing : Castaly is setting up the Project.

Needs your input : Castaly is waiting for an answer or decision.

Build ready : The Spec and Graph are ready for Build.

Plan ready : A Build Plan is waiting for approval.

Build blocked : Castaly found a Spec conflict that must be resolved before Build can continue.

Building : Castaly is implementing the accepted Build Plan.

Testing : Automated tests are running against the build.

Build failed : Implementation, tests, or deployment failed.

Deploying Preview : Castaly is preparing or restoring the Preview.

Preview ready : The Preview is live and ready to test.

Preview expired : The Preview link timed out and can be restored with Resume.

Preview failed : Castaly could not prepare the Preview.

Configuration required : A required Runtime Secret is missing.

Ready to publish : The Project can be published.

Published : The Project has a live published site.

Publish failed : Castaly could not complete publishing.

New : A node or item the latest Spec adds.

Updated : A node or item the latest Spec changes.

Removed : A node or item the latest Spec drops.
